The Bio-Technology Department existed since time immemorial, much before the other technology subjects came into practice, even though the term was not used. The production of alcoholic beverages from fruit juices and setting of curd from milk was done in Biotechnology from ancient days. The Srimaharshi Research Institute of Vedic Technology (SRIVT) is significant as Centre of Biological sciences as it connects the élan to realize living systems analogous with ancient Vedic sciences. The faculty is well trained and eminent in various fields of Biotechnology. The Research members of our Department understand ancient Vedic knowledge, extract, isolate and design new formulations which can be utilized to minimize plethora of diseases. They perform scientific experiments in an advanced, systematic manner to get a final medicinal product. The Department of Biotechnology is established with modern scientific equipments which help the life sciences pupil to shape themselves distinctly in the society.

The Department of Bio-Technology plays a vital role at SRIVT. The main aim is to bridge the gap between ancient sciences with its modern counterparts enabling the scientists to explore the scientific perspective of Vedas. Our departmental dedicated members expose the students to the research side even at post graduate levels. We propound both education and training from the certificate, graduate, postgraduate and doctorate level and R&D in the Biological sciences with reference to ancient Vedas. We partake in in-house as well as government funding projects. We also engage in different courses with other departments and centers of many institutions, as well as accredit quality technologies both for the private and government agencies.

Research areas:

The Bio-Technology Department is primarily involved in comprehensive research that designates the Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology. This department plays attention on research activities related to herbalism with authenticated traditional herbs. The advanced sterilized laboratory in this department is constructed to perform efficacy and phytotherapeutic studies to illuminate and perceive results until final ayurvedic product development based on Vedic Sciences.
